2014: The Highlights

I must be craving the familiar, because 2014 drew me to the places I’ve known and loved before. I have a bad habit of dismissing the places I’ve been for the pull of the unknown- countries I’ve never been, cities that are a mystery to me. This year taught me that no two trips are alike, and that the places you thought you knew can and will surprise you.
I returned to Iceland for the summer, helping to lead the same trip I was a student on in 2013. I saw Indonesia through new eyes when I got to share the country I’ve lived in and come home to for much of my life with friends who had never been. I coveted short trips to Colorado, shaking off the less-than-ideal Boston weather with some Colorado sun.
And in between all that, I worked my ass off.
Closing the chapter on 2014 will err on the side of the sweet in bittersweet, and that’s mostly because there is so much to look forward to. Nothing’s official, but something tells me South-East Asia is going to be a theme next year. Here’s to a well-traveled 2015!
