The Long Trip Home.

Spring greens beneath the fog

Its a wet and foggy day for my last day in Boston, which is fine by me. I’ve been running around, finishing papers and closing the last boxes, and trying to let it sink in that my freshman year is over and I won’t be back in this city for four months.

This skyline will be sorely missed.

It’s a lot to take in. But there’s something comforting in the routine- it always feels the same, packing for the summer. That same cardboard/packing tape smell, and the inevitably desolate sight of a dorm room stripped of everything that made it mine. Leaving everything exactly as it was before you, as if no time has really passed at all.

It’s been a big year for me. Huge, really, between Europe last summer, my time in Ireland, and moving back to Boston to finish off my first year of college.  Not your typical freshman year, I’ll admit, but I’d do it over again in a heartbeat.

The long trip home starts before dawn tomorrow, and I am equally heartbroken and eager for whats ahead.

Check out what I’ll be up to this summer here!
